Grand Marnier Scones

Grand Marnier Scones with chocolate chips & white chocolate chips, and a sweet Grand Marnier glaze
 
Scones– makes 16
2 cups all-purpose flour
½ cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces
1 egg
½ cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons Grand Marnier
Zest from 1 orange
¼ white chocolate chips
½ bag chocolate chips
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F, line a large baking sheet with parchment paper
2. Whisk cream, egg, Grand Marnier, and orange zest together until combined
3. In a separate bowl whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together until combined
4. Add butter pieces to dry ingredients, mix on low speed until it looks crumb-like
5. Add cream mixture to butter mixture, beat on low speed until combined (if it’s not possible fold dough until it’s combined)
6. Flour hands and counter tops, then fold white chocolate chips and chocolate chips into dough
7. Split dough into two even sized pieces
8. Shape each chunk into circles, slice each into 8 wedges
9. Transfer wedges onto cookie sheet and bake for 10-14 minutes, until tops are a light golden brown
10. Allow to cool slightly, then spread glaze over tops
 
Grand Marnier Glaze
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
½ cup powdered sugar
1 tablespoon Grand Marnier
1. Whisk melted butter and powdered sugar together until smooth
2. Add Grand Marnier, whisk until combined and smooth
3. Allow to cool and thicken slightly then drizzle/spread over scones
4. +/- cool some more, then shift powdered sugar over the scones
