Margarita Cupcakes II

Tequila & lime cupcakes brushed with tequila, Grand Marnier, and lime juice, then topped with a tequila/ GM/ lime juice buttercream. makes 24.
 
Tequila Lime Cupcakes– adapted from OhMyVeggies
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking SODA
½ teaspoon baking POWDER
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup sour cream
1 cup tequila
Zest from 4 limes
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F, line cupcake tin with paper liners
2. Whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt together
3. In a separate bowl whisk sour cream, tequila, and lime zest together
4. In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream butter & sugar until fluffy, add eggs one at a time, beating between each, then add vanilla
5. Alternate adding the flour and the wet mixture to the creamed butter and sugar, starting and ending with the flour
6. Fill cupcake liners slightly over ¾ full, and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean
 
Brush
1 tablespoon Tequila
1 tablespoon grand Marnier
Juice from ½ lime
1. Poke holes in the tops of the cupcakes with a toothpick
2. Combine all ingredients and brush over the tops
3. Drink any leftover 😉
 
Margarita Frosting– adapted from Sweet Peas Kitchen
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
4-5 cups powdered sugar
Juice from 1 lime
1 tablespoon Tequila
1 tablespoon Grand Marnier
1. Cream butter until fluffy, beat in 2 cups powdered sugar
2. Add half of each of the lime juice, tequila, and GM, beat until combined
3. Add 2 more cups powdered sugar, beat
4. Add remaining liquids, beat again
5. Add remaining powdered sugar until desired consistency is reached
